We just returned from one of the most enjoyable vacations that I can remember. Seriously, I do believe that it's the first vacation that when it was over I didn't feel like I needed a vacation to recover from my vacation. We (Johnny, Jenkins, Kirsten(my lovely 11-year old niece) & I) headed off to Gatlinburg, TN on July 31st and spent 7 beautiful days there. The weather was GOREGOUS.....the mountains BEAUTIFUL...and the kids were so well behaved that I kept having to check the backseat to make certain they were still there.
While we were in TN, we visited Cades Cove several times. If you've never been there - you NEED to go! It's amazingly beautiful and the wildlife....well, it's like no other place on earth. On one trip through the 11 mile loop we saw 115 deer, 6 bear, 1 coyote and countless turkey. We also visited the historic churches and houses in the cove, along with the grist mill, barns and other fabulous sites.
These are just a few pics from one of our trips through the Cove. We also went horseback riding, white water rafting, visited Dollywood, played miniature golf and spent an ungodly amount of time riding go-karts.
I'm running out of time for today so I'll be back later in the week to post more vacation pictures. I've got to get going if Jenkins is going to make it to his haircut on time. He HAS to get his hair cut today as he is having surgery tomorrow to repair a hole in each of his eardrums. I'm a nervous wreck, as you can imagine. Keep us in your prayers!
